What is the purpose of mindfulness?

The purpose of mindfulness is to bring yourself into the present. Today's world can be stressful, and we are often lost in thoughts about what needs to get done, what may happen tomorrow, what we are looking forward to, and other things that are future-focused.

Mindfulness strives to bring us back into the present moment so we can better regulate our emotions, control our stress, focus our attention, ward off depression and anxiety, and give our best selves to our friends and loved ones. Mindfulness is becoming more popular in society because people are realizing how necessary it is to stay present in a busy and sometimes scary world.
