Introduction

Greetings and welcome! Thanks for being curious enough to learn more about me and courageous enough to invest in yourself through counseling. I am a licensed clinical social worker with a PhD in Education. My experience includes supporting folks as they journey through the evolutions, changes, and transitions of life. My clinical and research expertise is specifically with, for, and on behalf of Black and Brown people. I am a Queer affirming practitioner. I support the full and beautiful spectrum of sexual, gender, and relational orientations. I draw from a strengths-based perspective. My approach encompasses a liberatory framework that includes the reality that in the American context, most systems and institutions were not developed with Black and Brown people in mind. This truth calls for an even higher level of intentionality in attending to nuance and complexity in my work with clients. I believe this approach also serves the liberation of majority cultures – freeing people to see themselves as full, complete, humans that intuitively know what they need. The therapeutic process is about the transformation or adjustments in your life that you wish to pursue, bringing you into congruence with your true authentic self. I consider it a profound honor to have the opportunity to walk alongside clients during this season of their journey. My name, Zoe, means life. What I know for sure is that YOU are the expert on your life. Let's get started.
