Introduction

In a world structured around "norms," we understand that raising unique humans requires a unique approach. PEACE Center LLC aims to partner with remarkable families to navigate connections with community, therapies, education, and services in order to secure a knowledge base and support system that reestablishes a sense of confidence and stability. Hi, my name is Virginia Young. Following nearly 10 years of personal experience and research in the Tourette and Tic population as a parent and advocate, (including OCD, ADHD, Anxiety, Sensory Integration, and various additional neurodivergence), I am thrilled to be able to serve my Auburn/Opelika community as an Associate Licensed Counselor under the supervision of Dr. Misty Smith. Acquiring, with honors, a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Troy University, interning at Parkaire Consultants (a specialty clinic in Marietta, GA), and completing Associate Counseling Licensure, as well as passing the National Counseling Exam have all prepared me to take the most logical next step which is to provide this distinct expertise to my local community. I believe that my personal experience with Tourette + and other neurodivergence in my own family, combined with the mentorship and supervision by Sheryl Pruitt, a renowned Tourette Syndrome expert, has set PEACE Center LLC up to be an exceptional asset to Auburn and Opelika. Our desire is to provide clarity, direction, connection, and support through education and multiple types of therapy as well as to encourage the development of a team approach for supporting the young person and their environmental cheerleaders such as family, school personnel, doctors and therapists.
