Hi, I’m Vickie (she/her) and I’m a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), thank you for your interest in my profile! Many of my clients are drawn to working with me because they recognize a culture and identity similar to theirs. I am accepting new clients on a very limited basis for evening (5-7pm) appointments at this time, please message me for most updated availability. Clinical Passions I have a heart for supporting LGBTQ+ folks, East and SE Asian clients, and BIPOC individuals. I am fortunate to work a day job that feeds one of my areas of passion, supporting people living with cancer and those dealing with grief and loss. I also love working with people in tech and medical fields who are experiencing professional burnout. What It's Like to Work with Me A former supervisor once told me: “We can teach a person the skills and the language, but we can’t teach their heart to be compassionate without judgment. We need someone with a heart for this work.” In me, you’ll find heart and determination to support you in figuring out what’s working and not working for your life, come up with a plan to meet your goals, and hold you accountable to that plan. My style includes both direct, solutions focused, goal-oriented modalities and a slower, narrative approach tailored to my client’s needs. My Lived Experience and Education I was born in China, grew up in British Columbia (Coast Salish lands), and now live and work in Seattle, on Duwamish lands. I am proud to be bilingual in Mandarin, including my native dialect, and English. I come from a family of teachers and engineers, and stand at the intersection of multiple cultures. After my B.A. in Psychology, I pivoted into social work, drawn to understanding people in the context of their history and their environment. I completed a second B.A. in Social Work and went on to obtain a Master's in Social Work from the University of Washington. My work experience spans inpatient mental health, community mental health, primary care, and oncology social work. In my clinical practice, I seek regular consultation from my colleagues in the greater therapist community. Outside of work, I’m a purposeful cyclist, coffee and tea drinker, foodie, and enthusiastic (if not always successful) plant caretaker. During our telehealth sessions, you might meet my floppy mid-life Ragdoll cat.
