Valerie Acosta is a Licensed Professional Counselor whose clinical practice focuses on facilitating recovery and wellness for individuals and families dealing with: depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, challenges with relationships, work/life balance, parenting/step-parenting issues, and substance abuse. With over thirty years of experience, Valerie enjoys helping her clients to live productive, meaningful, and fulfilling lives. Valerie earned a Master of Education degree in Counselor Education from The University of Virginia (1987) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Child Development from Virginia Tech (1985). In 1996, she was recognized as a Virginia Tech Leader, Achiever, and Outstanding Alumna. She is a professional member of The American Counseling Association (ACA), The Virginia Counseling Association (VCA), and The Richmond Area Counseling Association (RACA). She has worked as a Disaster Mental Health Specialist with the American Red Cross and SAMHSA (The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration). Valerie is licensed to provide counseling services to residents of the state of Virginia. Her counseling services are provided via Teletherapy.
