Introduction

About Me: In addition to my LCSW, I am a Duke University Certified Health & Wellness Coach & a Credentialed Mindfulness Meditation Teacher. I meet clients with deep compassion, stemming from overcoming personal challenges & with years of diverse professional practice experience. Ask me about MY literal journey on the Camino de Santiago, & how it shifted my perspective to launch a non-medical, stigma-eliminating model of Prevention, Maintenance, & Promotion of Thriving mental health! You name it, I've likely lived it or supported someone who has- I have worked with all branches of active duty military domestically & internationally, veterans in recovery, survivors of domestic violence, college students, families in transitional housing, adults living with chronic illness & disabilities, Native American children in foster care & more.... I have supported both private & nonprofit agencies through direct practice with clients across the lifespan, field supervision for graduate students, licensure supervision for post-graduates, program management, & facilitation of groups / workshops / classes A few personal highlights to get to know your practitioner: (Along with coast-to-coast & overseas travel across the globe, hundreds of miles of hiking in wilderness, & a through-trek on the Camino), I have worked at the Old Faithful Inn at Yellowstone National Park, lived in a tent as an intern on an organic farm, supported projects for an Andean town in a developing country, conducted research in the field of "Ecopsychology" - the affects of nature connection on mental health - & currently dedicate myself to raising 3 strong, capable daughters. When I am not working you can sometimes find me dabbling in creative writing, occasionally painting on canvas, outside jogging, taking a few voice lessons, getting my hands dirty in the garden, or playing with power tools while helping my carpenter husband renovate homes "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" - Invest in yourself Now for an optimal future - Every moment is a chance to start fresh and infuse your life with new energy! 3 Tiers of Services = 1) Psychosocial Counseling: Do you feel stuck, experience career or caregiver burnout, or as if you are just "spinning your wheels?" Do you want to manage stress, improve relationships & communication skills, explore solutions to long-standing problems, or change old thinking patterns that no longer serve you? I provide confidential licensed professional mental health support without assessing for a diagnosis or clinical illness that lands on your permanent medical record. Rather, I assess for pain points & strengths, listen with empathy to "your story", & assist you in identifying connections, patterns & insights for self-growth. I help you to learn healthier ways to interact with & view yourself & others. Our work together is directed by You, rather than insurance companies or bottom lines. My mission is to fill the gap for many who want & need support Before issues become illnesses-much like we go to the gym for our physical health maintenance. 2) Health & Well-Being Coaching- Do you want to change your eating patterns, improve sleep quality, manage weight, incorporate exercise or relaxation techniques, increase time management, quit smoking, drink less or transform any other habit that is keeping you from flourishing? Have you made several attempts yet found yourself back at the starting line? I practice the neuroscience-based Duke University Integrative Medicine Model of guiding the process for true, real, attainable & sustainable behavioral change! 3) Mindfulness Meditation for Stress Relief & Deep Healing- Have you experienced chronic stress, losses, traumas, physical or emotional pain (who hasn't)? Do you sense that these experiences need to be released from your body & mind? Would you benefit from a reset, chance to catch your breath, or space to take a true time-out? I am certified to teach Meditation (The Mindfulness Center - Bethesda, MD), Yoga Nidra-deep systematic relaxation (California College of Ayurveda), & Restorative Yoga (Relax and Renew -r- level 1 from Judith Lasater herself). I love guiding the somatic healing & needed rest these practices offer, & meet you with a personal practice that my own mother introduced to me from childhood! Mindfulness is woven throughout all of my offerings. Imagine what the world would look like if everyone practiced just a bit... *Contact me for a complimentary intro discovery call or informational interview to see how I can support you or your agency to thrive* *I provide sessions via my virtual office space & in-person mobile services for agencies within the metro NOVA community*
