I am a licensed professional counselor currently living in Gainesville Georgia. In 2005 I received my Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in psychology with a minor in sociology from North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega Georgia. In 2007 I received my master’s degree in professional counseling from Argosy University in Atlanta Georgia. While doing my studies I was introduced to many therapeutic techniques. I have an eclectic approach and gravitate to Existential Phenomenology. While doing my undergrad studies in 2004-2005 I began to work at New Hope Counseling after completion of my internship. New Hope Counseling at the time focused on substance abuse counseling and anger management counseling. The main format of treatment was group counseling. As my role with the counseling center increased, I began to lead groups in the women’s substance abuse groups. In 2006-2007 while doing my graduate studies I furthered my experience by completing my practicum work at Laurelwood Mental Health/Substance Abuse/Child and Adolescent Treatment Center in Gainesville Georgia. I was fully involved in the Day Partial Hospitalization Program for Aftercare once discharged from the hospital along with providing inpatient treatment on the four units of the hospital. Once I completed my practicum, I began to work for Laurelwood as a behavioral health clinician part time working with the child and adolescent unit. In August 2008 I began working for Avita Community Partners as a social service provider in the Adult Behavioral Health Peer Support Program with clients that have severe and persistent mental illness. During my 7 years of working with Avita I not only worked in the Peer Supports Program but also concurrently worked with the Developmental Disability clients as their counselor for mental health, in the Adult Outpatient Program and the Supportive Apartment program. I truly enjoy providing mental health services and truly believe that everyone has potential for great things and when given the chance to explore/realize their potential can live life to the fullest. I am married to my husband and have two boys. I love to learn and am always keeping my interest in new techniques to bring to my counseling. I have a passion for singing and music.
