**Currently, accepting new clients!** Welcome! I’m Tonya Boots, a licensed mental health counselor based in Iowa and the founder of Tonya Boots Psychotherapy LLC. I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Loyola University Chicago in 2017. During my time there, I completed clinical training at an inpatient psychiatric hospital specializing in PTSD treatment. Following that, I worked at an adolescent group home near Indianapolis, where I gained invaluable experience in crisis de-escalation and supporting children and families involved in the welfare system. I specialize in helping individuals heal from trauma and reduce anxiety through evidence-based, body-centered approaches like Somatic Psychotherapy, Trauma Conscious Yoga Method and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Additionally, I connect well with kiddos in or have a history of being in foster care and the juvenile justice system. As an adoptee and licensed foster parent, my personal experience has deepened my love and commitment to supporting this population. I believe true healing goes beyond talk therapy. By integrating the mind and body, we can tap into the deep, innate capacity for resilience and growth within each person. My goal is to create a safe and compassionate space where you feel supported as you navigate your journey toward lasting change. Whether you’re processing past experiences, managing the weight of anxiety, or striving to reconnect with your authentic self, I’m here to guide you every step of the way. In our sessions, I’ll invite you to move intuitively and explore what feels genuine and grounding. Together, we’ll increase your awareness of feelings and bodily sensations, helping you regain a sense of control and ownership over your physical body. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my partner, baby daughter, and dog, Reese. I also love traveling, being outdoors, moving my body - depends on what kind of exercise I'm feeling that day, and connecting with friends and family. Starting therapy with a new therapist—especially if it’s your first time—can feel intimidating. I’m here to make that first step easier. I’d love to connect and learn how I can support you on your healing journey. Reach out today to schedule a free 15-minute consultation!
