Dr. Duffing is a licensed clinical psychologist and U.S. Army Veteran. She is one of the founders of GI Psychology and is passionate about serving the community in her roles as clinician, healthcare administrator, and volunteer. Dr. Duffing uses an integrative framework that pulls from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Clinical Hypnosis. This means that each patient receives an individualized treatment approach that recognizes individual strengths and values while moving towards specific and measurable goals. Dr. Duffing’s therapeutic style is goal-oriented, empathic, and empowering. When in-person and consistent with client treatment goals, she regularly invites her therapy dog Dutch to join the session. Dr. Duffing maintains active involvement in the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH) and the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis (SCEH) as well as serves as volunteer Vice-President for the association of Northern Virginia Clinical Psychologists (NVCP).
