It’s easy to feel stuck in patterns of thought and behavior that don’t support the kind of life and relationships people may want for themselves. Some of these patterns are well-ingrained, making it particularly challenging to break out of the cycles they create. Whether the goal is to deal more successfully with depression, anxiety, codependency, low self-esteem, trauma or a number of other issues, counseling can be a supportive, constructive and healing experience that helps people find their way forward. I came to the counseling profession after spending more than 20 years in corporate marketing communications. Stay with me…it’s not as big a leap as it may seem! Both fields require similar skills for success: the ability to listen closely, ask the right questions, build trusting relationships and understand human thought and behavior.
