Tia Coleman is a native Mississippian who has dreamed of being a counselor from a young age. She attended and graduated from Jackson State University where she obtained her B.S. in Psychology. During her matriculation at Jackson State University, she was a member of a number of mental health advocacy and leadership groups including Psychology at Work, Peer Educators, and Transfer Ambassadors. She obtained her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University where she was inducted into Golden Key Honor Society and Sigma Alpha Pi Leadership Honor Society. Tia is currently an advisor for NAMI’s Open Up Mississippi where works to educate various community leaders and helpers on mental health matters as well as destigmatizing the mental health world for people aged 14 - 26. During her graduate training, she worked with various different populations including children, adolescents, and young adults and received invaluable training in different mental health techniques. When working with clients, Tia takes an empathic and evidence-based approach. She is versed in different theories including CBT, ACT, and DBT. As a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor in Mississippi, Tia is currently accepting new clients and is dedicated to providing a safe, supportive environment where individuals can openly explore their thoughts and emotions on their journey toward mental well-being.
