I like talking with people. More specifically, I enjoy sharing authentic personal connections with others when we relate with honesty, curiosity and integrity to explore relationships with ourselves, others and the world and in doing so, begin to envision the best path forward with renewed resolve and confidence. For me, counseling has been a meaningful experience for achieving these goals, both as a counselor and as a client. Professional counselor, builder, gardener, potter, beekeeper, Peace Corp volunteer, teacher...I have engaged a number of professions and avocations over the last 40 years, all of which satisfied some yearning or need at the time and all of which involved a degree of risk and challenge. My personal and professional journeys have included the excitement of transition and the ease of established flow, interspersed with occasional periods of painful stagnation, fear and uncertainty. I have suffered the loneliness, grief and loss that accompany the soul's dark night as well as savored extended seasons of joy, contentment, and connection. I offer my clients the compassion, understanding and wisdom born of this rich and mature life experience. My goal is to engage my clients in enlivened discussions which deepen insight, clarify vision and motivate action for the creation of a meaningful and satisfying life. As a seasoned clinician and having worked with diverse individuals in a variety of settings, my work is informed by many counseling styles. At times, when appropriate, I may employ some specific techniques from my eclectic toolbox, but in the end, my therapeutic style is that of authentic relationship characterized by deep listening, thoughtful inquiry, wise guidance and steady support. I endeavor to encourage, empower and inspire others to live their values in the pursuit of their dreams and to have more fulfilling relationships. Many clients have found this work with me to be helpful.
