Introduction

We are a collective of psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, as well as ancillary service providers. Our cofounders, Deborah Lynn, MD, Gita Zarnegar, PhD, PsyD, LMFT, and Tara Schlussel, PhD, have been collaborating in the treatment of families for years. We recognize in each other a devoted work ethic, a deep caring for our patients and a vigorous desire for psychological and intellectual depth. With six decades of clinical experience between us, we share deep convictions concerning the kind of therapeutic practice that leads to successful outcomes. Given our shared values, we founded an organization committed to the healing and growth of our patients, based upon the superior clinical insight our combined years of practice have taught us. WHAT WE THINK At some point in their lives, many individuals realize that working with an experienced psychiatrist and psychotherapist to address life challenges, large or small, is essential to growth. Our clinical efforts are based upon a broad understanding of the human condition within the context of rigorous psychoanalytic inquiry and education. We feel compelled to make accessible to our patients these vastly complicated concepts, and formally offer them to our parents and clienteles. OUR APPROACH Reveal. Release. Re-Engage. Our approach is grounded in what we call “The Three R’s.” Reveal The starting point of therapy is a process of discovery—we look at all of the injurious ways you can be shaped by relationships with others (parents, siblings, other caretakers, peer groups, etc.) resulting in an arrest in the development of a true, authentic self. We provide an understanding of what lies out of your awareness, keeping you unfulfilled and stagnant. Our treatment goals during this phase: To identify the original self-defensive mechanisms that were developed to protect one from painful affect To make unconscious feelings and thoughts conscious To identify and make one aware of maladaptive mechanisms of self-negation and self- Sabotage To identify and pinpoint the origins of anxiety To articulate unformulated thoughts and feelings To make explicit, implicit relational maps To clarify internal representations of self and other Release We work with you to develop strategies to release the dynamics of internalized, deadening, stagnating and thwarting processes. This emboldens the conversations you need to have with yourself in order to reset your repetitive relational roles. Our treatment goals during this phase: To heal wounds from the past To replace shame with self-acceptance To transform internal negative scripts To stop voices of self-negation and self-sabotage To restore the sense of fragmentation caused by trauma To gain/regain your experience of self-agency Re-Engage Ultimately, we help to identify critical tools required to grow as a thriving and vibrant human being. This helps you to address important relationships, life goals and aspirations. Our mutual work will help you to inhabit your own self-realized, authentic narrative, enabling you to live comfortably, make more authentic choices, and live with integrity. The goal is to develop a healthy template for new relationships. Our treatment goals during this phase: To embody your authentic self and to feel whole To uncover your unformulated thoughts and feelings To discover and express your own narrative To construct corrective relational experiences To develop a healthy and engaging relational map To infuse your relationships with vitality To build new representations of yourself and of others OUR PROGRAMS · Individual therapy · Couple therapy · Family therapy · Group therapy · Parenting classes · Authentic relating groups · Fireside bi-monthly lectures open to the community TEAM
