My approach to psychotherapy is grounded in a cognitive behavioral approach that emphasizes taking personal responsibility of the choices that you have made. I combine both cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy toward setting personal goals, while correcting irrational thoughts and maladaptive behaviors to help improve a person's mental health. I believe people are in a constant growth state throughout their lives. Learning new skills and techniques that you can use in everyday life is an essential part of that growth. It can increase your ability to function more effectively on a daily basis, as well as provide long term coping skills that will bring more enjoyment to your life as you become a healthier person. I may also utilize other therapeutic approaches and techniques to help meet the needs of each individual. Some of these techniques may include relaxation techniques, mindfulness, and guided imagery. I am most interested in helping people develop skills to build healthier lives and obtain a better sense of themselves during their journey in life.
