Introduction

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over two decades of experience in the field of Social Work. I graduated from New York University and obtained my master’s degree in Social Work. I have spent the last few years focused on the study of trauma and complimented this study by becoming Trauma Certified. I am currently enrolled in a two-year postgraduate certification program in couples therapy. The earlier part of my career I worked in child welfare, spent several years in healthcare, and worked in various community mental health settings; with individuals with serious mental health illness and significant trauma histories. Currently I run my own private practice in New York City working with adults. My clinical expertise spans a range of mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, trauma, and PTSD disorders. In my practice I also spend a considerable amount of time with couples addressing their complex needs and relationship challenges. As a Trauma Certified Psychotherapist, I seek to help patients understand how unresolved trauma influences behaviors, thoughts, and emotions. My goal with couples is to have them gain a deeper understanding of the conflictual patterns they get locked into, the genesis of eroded trust, look at intimacy issues, and communication challenges. I support my clients through a blend of evidence-based theoretical perspectives. Modalities include cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness practices, solution focused therapy, emotionally focused therapy, and gestalt therapy. I feel passionate about unearthing the “untold stories” in clients’ lives; and creating a therapeutic space that supports the healing of “old wounds”, authenticity, transparency, and enriches the transformative process of self-discovery.
