Mya Carter, a clinical social worker and psychotherapist, founded Hope & Wellness Center in 2024. With over 8 years of experience with diverse clients in various settings (including residential facilities, the child welfare system, social service agencies, hospitals, mental health organizations, and advocacy on Capitol Hill), Mya brings valuable knowledge, experience, insight, respect, and cultural responsiveness to her work with each client. Mya specializes in working with adolescents and adults suffering from depression, hopelessness, trauma, identity/self-esteem issues, grief and loss, and relationship issues. Using trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other evidence-based modalities, Mya’s approach is psychoanalytic, challenging clients to face internal challenges hindering their well-being. Highly skilled and principled, Mya aims to evoke hope and inspire individuals to create a life of overall wellness, peace, and healing. Having experienced several tragedies, Mya considers herself a witness to the transformative work of therapy and self-discovery.
