Welcome to Cool-ish Counseling! I am Tammie Cool and am very passionate about helping the neurodivergent community since I am neurodivergent myself and believe we need support and acceptance within our population! I have been practicing in the mental health field 13+ years and in an outpatient therapeutic setting for 7+ years. I think of myself as eclectic in my approaches to therapy, but mostly focus on a combination of Psychodynamic (including IFS), Polyvagal, CBT, and DBT skills (for interpersonal and emotional regulation struggles). Please review the list below to see other modalities I'm familiar with and trained in. I address many issues including but not limited to Neurodevelopmental (ADHD and high functioning ASD), Anxiety, Anger management, Depression, Trauma, Interpersonal Relationship issues, Stress Management, Low self-esteem, Parenting issues, Grief and Loss, and Chronic Illness. I LOVE learning and consistently engage in as many training opportunities as possible. After completing my Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies, I began my career working as a behavior specialist for students with Intellectual disabilities and neurodivergent diagnoses (ADHD, Autism Spectrum, etc.) I moved on to work direct care with adult individuals diagnosed with intellectual disabilities where I addressed behavioral, emotional, and physical needs of the individuals. While attending Temple University I provided mental health outreach and therapy services to students at Pennsylvania State York. Upon completion of my MSW I worked as a clinical coordinator where I developed treatment plans for children diagnosed with high functioning Autism and worked as an outpatient therapist for the past 7+ years before opening my practice.
