Hi! I am a LCSW and council-approved supervisor for social work in Texas. I am also a medical anthropologist. I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology, master’s degrees in social work, psychology, and applied anthropology, and a PhD in anthropology. I have over 10 years of experience and utilize many different psychotherapy approaches, including CBT and CBT-I, ACT, SFBT, DBT, and motivational interviewing. I enjoy getting to know my clients and finding a style that works best for their needs. I enjoy combining the skills I've learned in my anthropology and clinical social work training to demonstrate compassionate curiosity about the lives of the people I serve. I ask a lot of questions and get to know clients before challenging them to move closer to what they want to see change and improve about their lives. I regularly use humor to foster growth and acceptance while acknowledging the serious nature of people's problems. My work is client-centered, meaning that I focus on facilitating the lives clients want to design for themselves. We focus on moving closer to what clients want to see change and improve about their lives. Goal setting is an important part of this process, so that clients know what direction they're headed and make changes according to their values.
