Introduction

Stephanie is a Licensed Professional Counselor at Journeys Counseling Center, in Tempe, Arizona. She has worked in the counseling field since 2015 after she graduated with her Masters in Counseling from Arizona State University. As a person-centered therapist, her style is very collaborative and strength-based. Stephanie believes you are the expert of your own inner experience and wants to honor your sense of direction for yourself. She believes the most holistic and long-lasting results come from empowering you on your journey of healing and growth. She aims to provide quality, trauma-informed care for her clients to process through issues from the past and help them feel more free in the present. She is a Certified EMDR Therapist, and has practiced EMDR therapy since 2017. She has also finished Level 1 training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. Stephanie incorporates a variety of other styles and techniques depending on her clients’ individual needs. She often uses experiential exercises in session to help you connect with the present moment (mindfulness and body-oriented interventions), make peace with all parts of yourself (Internal Family Systems), and shore you up with coping and interpersonal skills when needed (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy). She strives to provide a safe atmosphere that honors and validates all walks of life. Stephanie particularly enjoys working with adolescents, young adults, the LGBTQ population, and early-career helping professionals (e.g. mental health or medical professionals, community or non-profit workers, teachers, ministry leaders, etc.). Feeling a sense of connection and trust with your therapist is one of the most important parts of therapy and we want to make sure it feels like a good fit. During your initial sessions with Stephanie, she takes time to get to know you, build rapport, and assess your needs. She then collaborates with you on what goals you want to focus on in counseling. She tailors your work together based on your needs and desires because she believes that your own curiosity, motivation, and exploration are crucial to sustainable growth.
