Introduction

“Awareness is all about restoring your freedom to choose what you want instead of what your past imposes on you.” Deepak Chopra Hello, my name is Stephanie Kohn. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida. Choosing a therapist is probably the most important part of your therapy experience as research indicates the client-therapist relationship creates the environment and foundation for change to be possible. My therapy style comes from the idea that I serve as an advisor on your life path to become the hero in your own life, much like these fictional movie characters did for the hero: Falkor, Gandolf, Yoda, Miyagi and Dumbledore. Many served as a guide in my own life, including my first dog Mischief, and I would be honored to serve in this role for you. I earned a BA in Psychology at University of West Florida in Pensacola, FL and a Masters of Science Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, FL. My therapeutic training is concentrated in trauma and women's issues as a result of many years experience working with sexual assault survivors at the Women's Center of Jacksonville. I am formally trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I am also a Certified Intrinsic Coach (CIC) through Intrinsic Solutions International and have 10 years experience in Human Resources with various companies prior to becoming a therapist.
