Introduction

I am a Nationally Board-Certified Counselor (NCC), and an LPC. I graduated from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL with a Master's in Counseling. I’m excited to embark on this journey of healing with you all. I specialize in working with families and individuals who have experienced or are experiencing trauma and abuse. My client population include individuals who are suffering from anxiety, depression, self-harming tendencies, suicidal thoughts, or an eating disorder. While offering trauma-based treatment in my sessions, I truly focus on the aspects of my clients that need closure and healing. I believe everyone, young and old, can recover from the past and lead their best lives! I truly believe, that with the right therapist, you can heal from your trauma! I allow my clients to take the lead in therapy, but I am also not afraid to challenge my clients whenever appropriate. While I am a person-centered therapist, I incorporate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), positive psychology, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT, and ACT as some of my therapeutic modalities. I meet you where you are and respect your worldview. Being able to view life from another person’s lens is one of the most important building blocks I will have with my clients as it is imperative to forming a strong therapeutic alliance with my clients. I am fully trained in EMDR and believe this treatment modality helps facilitate the processing and healing of trauma. My area of expertise also includes working with those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. When it comes to offering grief counseling, I am a Certified Grief Counseling Specialist and am trained to provide body-based treatment composed of emotional and behavioral regulation components. I am trained in Grief therapy, understand the circumstances of bereavement, and offer appropriate grief counseling treatment approaches to those who are hurting as a result of the loss of someone. As for the children population, I work with children aged 8 and above. I believe in healing the little ones before they make it to adulthood. To assist me better in my therapeutic approaches with my child clients, I have received several certificates, among them are: Certified Child and Adolescent Trauma Practitioner, Certified Autism Specialist, Certified ADHD Professional. Trained in EMDR. I am trained to understand the neuroscience of childhood trauma, administer trauma assessments, and also to incorporate play therapy in treatment sessions while understanding the essential components of Trauma-Informed Treatments. I am working towards earning a Registered Play Therapist designation while utilizing child-centered play therapy and possibly Art Therapy with my tweens and teens.
