It can be terrifying when recognizing that your use of substances needs to change. If I open up and tell someone what is going on, will they want to take away the one thing that has been there for me, my best friend through really tough times? Will they judge me? Shame me? I understand these feelings and fears. I will tell you that I am not here to do any of that. I am here to walk through this with you if you let me. I am here to listen, provide support with no judgment or shame, and share tools that I have found to be effective with those looking to make changes in their substance use. I believe that my clients lead the way in terms of their recovery. I do not offer one-size-fits-all treatment nor do I work to "change" my clients. Rather, I help them see their strengths and how they can apply them to their individual circumstances as well as exploring situations that brought them to where they are today. I provide a safe and nonjudgmental space so my clients can fully open up and begin moving towards the changes they wish to see in their lives. I help my clients see what they are capable of and encourage and empower them to achieve their goals while at the same time navigating obstacles encountered along the way. Treatment is client centered, strengths-based, and includes Boundaries, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Relapse Prevention, Coping Skills, DBT skills and CBT skills. Not the person navigating substance use? Maybe you are the family or a friend? This is also a place where you can find support. In working with families over the years, I am familiar with the thoughts of “Something is wrong, but I don’t know what it is.”, “We have a good family, this can’t happen to us.” , “What is happening to my friend? I don’t know how to help.” What about “No one can find out! I have to figure this out on my own, I just don’t know where to start or what to do.” Any of this sound familiar? I can help you gain clarity on what is happening around you and identify ways to take care of yourself through self-care, effective boundaries, increased positive communication, and connection to community resources for you and the person you care about. I also offer ADIS (Alcohol and Drug Information School) and Assessments needed for re-entry to school, admittance into inpatient, or fulfilling requirements of probation, attorneys, etc.
