Stacey Slate is a seasoned Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York and Massachusetts. Currently, her practice is fully remote and she is accepting New York-based clients only. Clients tend to approach her with conundrums that need to be fully understood: “I know what I’m feeling but I don’t know why”; “I keep finding myself in hurtful relationships and I want something different next time around”; “I’m tired of how I’m living and I’m afraid to change”; “I want to feel less lonely”; “I don’t like myself”; “The people I am closest to don’t really know me.” They want to live brightly and with much aliveness, and they value being supported, known, and attuned to as they work on changing shape. Stacey is particularly drawn to working with people who are grappling with relationship difficulties, low self worth, existential anxiety, aftermath of abuse or neglect in their family of origin, and transitions and loss across the lifespan. She helps clients explore and question -- Why do we do what we do? What informs our world view and self concept? How do we manage distress and cultivate satisfaction? What do we feel about what we feel? -- and she supports client-centered discovery of the subjective answers to what makes life worth living. Stacey received her Master’s degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University and completed advanced training at NYU Langone Institute for Psychoanalytic Education and The William Alanson White Institute. Ongoing coursework and clinical supervision remain essential to her approach to practice.
