Introduction

My philosophy is based on the understanding that being mentally healthy is a balance of the parts of self. Working on the entire self includes looking at our physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, personal, and professional attributes. After years of teaching middle school, I returned to graduate school to complete a dual master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling and clinical mental health counseling to focus on individual work with clients on a more personal level. I have experience working with life’s challenges such as trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and addiction. I utilize a holistic approach including a variety of evidence-based therapies. Therapies utilized include client-centered, strengths based, narrative, and cognitive behavioral therapy. While talk therapy is important, I weave in exploration of connecting with self by understanding how we fuel our bodies, what healthy coping skills are implemented, and how my clients can work to release natural endorphins. I am EMDR institute trained, (eye movement desensitization reprocessing), for children, adolescents, and adults. EMDR is a therapy proven to help reduce symptoms related to depression, trauma, PTSD, anxiety, addictions, phobias, and other emotional problems. I believe that therapy can provide opportunity for healing and growth in life and relationships, but most importantly, in the relationship with self. I strive to exude empathy and warmth to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where my clients can process, heal, and learn to be the best versions of themselves in any situation or diagnosis they are presented with. I am passionate about helping people achieve optimal health and overall well-being in every aspect of their lives!
