I'm Skyler Whitley, a lifelong Oregonian and resident of Portland since 2011. I am passionate about my local community and the values of equity, social justice, and disability rights. My services exist to meet the needs of the neurodivergent community. I specialize in providing mental health services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) including autism, Down syndrome, and other forms of neurodiversity. I am here to support you with managing anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health challenges. At this time, I provide services solely via secure Telehealth software. My approach includes: - A client-centered and strength-based foundation: You are the expert, and you make decisions about your own treatment goals and needs. I am here to support you through the process. - Prioritizing accessibility for you and your team: If you'd like, this may include involving your family or support team in counseling sessions or care coordination. - A combination of evidence-based therapeutic strategies, including cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and motivational interview. It is crucial that people with disabilities have access to mental health counselors who can meet their unique needs. I received my Master of Social Work (MSW) Degree from Portland State University. - I have worked at an I/DD case management agency (i.e. "brokerage") since 2013.
