Hello and welcome! My name is Skylar Martin. I'm an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist serving the East Bay. It is my honor to serve you as a psychotherapist. My passion is to help others and bring about meaningful and positive change in their lives. My approach synthesizes research-based best practices and psychological insight, drawing from modalities such as mindfulness, somatic psychology, emotion-focused therapy, internal family systems, attachment, and client-centered therapy. I value collaboration and partnership in the therapeutic process in order to instill a sense of agency and empowerment that you innately possess. As your therapist, I am empathic, compassionate, non-judgmental, patient, and open. My focus is to help you process and heal from life’s challenges and transgressions; you deserve to live a fulfilling and peaceful life. I hope to work with you to achieve this. I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families coming from all stages of life facing a variety of issues. My specialities and special interests include working with trauma, identity, sexual disorders, and relational challenges. Other issues and disorders I have experience working with include depression, anxiety, substance use, crisis and crisis management, bipolar disorder, infidelity, social anxiety, grief and loss, immigration trauma, and personality disorders. Though you are not defined by your past, I hold a special place for recognizing how it has impacted you and compassionately explore how it has shaped the way you respond to events in your life as well as the adaptive strategies and patterns that may have been wired within you. Healing will not always be linear, but I will be there with you every step of the way. “No matter where you are in life, no matter what pain you’ve experienced or mistakes you’ve made, your future is spotless, and you can begin again. I know you can do it because of five simple words: what you practice grows stronger.” - Dr. Shauna Shapiro Please feel free to reach out to me through email, text, or calling. I look forward to speaking with you and working collaboratively to best meet your needs and accomplish the goals you hope to achieve.
