As a nature-based Gestalt therapist, I believe that the focus should be on where you are in your life right now. Each client is unique, requiring an equally unique and personalized approach to address their concerns, which may take time and experimentation to realize. We begin with exploring your current wellness and barriers to this with a holistic assessment. From here, we establish attainable goals to improve your overall wellness. Although I believe that healing takes place in the present, exploring experiences in your past that may be holding you back from being your authentic self is often an important part of the counseling process. Together we structure sessions in a way that helps you reach the goals that you hope to achieve in counseling. Sessions may include processing past experiences, exploring behavioral and thought patterns, developing coping strategies, and building skills to regulate the nervous system. Techniques and methods that I bring into sessions include mindfulness-based stress reduction, self-compassion, solution focused therapy, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, expressive arts, nature-based experiences, and other eclectic and innovative strategies that may be helpful to your healing journey. I believe that my clients have the potential to know themselves deeply and live in a way that honors that. I have received additional training in Gestalt play therapy techniques, motivational interviewing, and nature-based counseling techniques while engaged in the integrative cultural healing model training designed for Salish-speaking tribal members. I am always looking for opportunities to increase my cultural awareness, expand my knowledge evidence-based counseling techniques, and deepen my understanding of my individual clients needs, seeking consultation and supervision to provide the highest level of holistic care for those engaged in counseling with Seeds of Sage.
