I have been a licensed clinical psychologist in California since 2010. Using effective, evidence-based therapies, I treat a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, interpersonal challenges, and trauma. My specialty training is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I work collaboratively with clients to develop measurable therapy goals, track progress, build ongoing coping skills, and deepen emotional insight. In sessions, my approach is client-centered, authentic, and culturally-sensitive. I feel strongly that mental health is an essential human right for all people, everywhere. My educational background includes a Ph.D. in Clinical Science from the University of California, Berkeley, internship training at the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, and a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California in San Francisco. I have held academic teaching positions at New York University, the University of San Francisco, UC Berkeley, and Palo Alto University. I teach graduate level courses in evidence-based therapies, psychodiagnosis, dialectical behavior therapy, cultural competency, and mental health disparities. My research and consultation work has included contracts with the World Health Organization and NGO’s engaged in mental health efforts in countries within Africa, Asia, and Latin America. My work has been disseminated in over 100 professional publications, presentations, and trainings.
