Introduction

"Grief is a consequence of love." ~Stephen Levine Grief is experienced in reaction to many kinds of losses people experience over a lifetime - death, divorce, placement in foster or other care facilities, retirement or job loss, diagnosis of serious disability or chronic illness, natural disasters, medical decisions, and violence. *Much grief goes unacknowledged and unresolved.* I have a Master's Degree in Special Education from Eastern New Mexico University and a Master's Degree in Counseling from Adams State College in Colorado. I have 25 years experience working with children, families, small groups, and individuals in the various fields of education, counseling, and support groups. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Grief Counselor committed to companioning people of all ages through some of the most difficult times of life. My work focuses on individual bereavement counseling, public grief education, and individual and family grief and mourning support. I believe in taking a companioning and narrative approach by honoring and remembering relationships to transform the way people encounter grief, bereavement, and mourning. Feelings of any type of grief that often go unacknowledged can include anxiety, anger, blame, guilt and self-reproach, disorganization, searching, and yearning. I am passionate about changing the narrative typically encountered in a grief-avoidant culture.
