Introduction

Shelby is a Registered Associate Clinical Social Worker under the supervision of Dr. Lucking. Shelby has a Carl Rogerian approach to therapy. She believes in meeting you where you are at and that you, the client, know yourself best. Her goal as a therapist is to facilitate an environment that evokes new insight and awareness and to help you reach your therapeutic goals. Her experience includes working with children, teens, & adults with a variety of stressors including: shame, anger management, family conflict, life transitions, peer relationships, grief, and more. She has worked with children as young as 4 with behavioral issues, teens with poor self-esteem, depression, and anxiety, and has supported parents and grandparents navigate life challenges, work-life balance, and stress. Shelby’s specialties include working with adults, children, and teens on behavioral issues, support with navigating the challenges of parenthood, building coping skills, and working through trauma, PTSD. Shelby is working on her PhD in Clinical Psychology. Some evidence-based practices she uses are Eye-Movement-Desensitization-Reprocessing (EMDR), a modality found to be effective in treating anxiety from trauma, CBT, ACT, IFS, Triple P (Positive Parenting Program), and more. Shelby has a specialty working with Neurodiverse couples. She works under the supervision of Dr. Thomas Lucking, PhD who is a published author, speaker, and expert in the field of Neurodiversity. Shelby supports NT partners who are struggling with OTRS (Ongoing Traumatic Relationship Syndrome). She uses the Island of Shared meaning model that Dr. Lucking created to support ND relationships and partners to bridge the Neurodiverse gap that these relationships struggle with. Shelby grew up in Bishop, California, a rural small town in the Eastern Sierra’s. She has experience navigating the many transitions and challenges life presents as a first generation college student/graduate and growing up with a parent that has a disability. Shelby identifies as bi-racial (Portuguese-Hawaiian, Filipino, Irish) and is familiar with the feelings and questions that can arise in regard to one’s own culture and identity. Shelby feels honored to support individuals and families on their mental health journey. By searching & reaching out for support you have taken a major step toward feeling relief, wellness, & peace. Well done. While our past influences us it does not have to define the way we live our life or how we view our self. I encourage you to reach out for a consultation.
