I was raised in Austin, and have lived in Honolulu, HI and Seattle, WA. I earned my Associate of Applied Science in Human Services and Counseling skills at Austin Community College, Bachelor of Arts in Mental Health Studies from University of Hawaii at Manoa, and Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seattle Pacific University. I have worked and volunteered in the mental health field for 22 years and have been licensed to practice independently since 2009 in Washington State and since 2017 in Texas. I’ve worked with survivors of domestic violence, women and men in recovery, and within the adolescent and adult criminal justice systems. I have also worked within the primary care medical setting and am very comfortable collaborating care with medical professionals. Currently, I am working toward National Certification as a Bariatric Counselor through the American Association of Bariatric Counselors and have developed relationships with bariatric specialists in the Austin area. I have experience in helping clients with various trauma issues, depression, anxiety, gender and sexuality, weight and food issues, PTSD and more. I primarily work with individuals but rely heavily on family systems theory in working with anyone. I also include art therapy interventions when appropriate. I have been back in Texas for a few years and I’m so excited to be practicing in Central Texas!
