Introduction

Shalandra Hollins is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and founder of Serene Life Counseling & Wellness. She has worked in various clinical settings such as non-profit agencies, community-based mental health, psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment facilities, and providing outpatient therapy in private practice. She currently provides treatment for clients struggling with depression, anxiety disorders, body image and self-esteem, perfectionism and imposter syndrome, challenging transitions, relationship concerns, and trauma. She has a passion for working with young adults, women and families impacted by divorce and separation and clients navigating the challenges of single parenting, co-parenting, dating and relationships. Shalandra believes that her clients are inherently capable and have resilience and strength within. Sometimes clients are unaware of their unique strengths and capabilities. Therapy can help them to learn to trust themselves and to utilize their strengths in meaningful ways. Shalandra is also a strong proponent of embracing self-compassion and helping her clients learn to give themselves grace, permission to not always get it right, encouragement to celebrate themselves, and most importantly, permission to rest. Just because you carry it well doesn't mean that it isn't heavy. With the use of Emotionally Focused Therapy, Shalandra helps couples to better understand their emotions, their partner's emotions, and how their individual attachment styles impact their relationship. When couples are able to identify their strength and growth areas, to better understand their emotions, and improve communication, they are often able to increase closeness and intimacy, and to move closer towards secure connection in their relationship. Shalandra realizes the courage that it takes to make the decision to seek therapy. It is her goal to offer a comforting, non-judgmental, and affirming environment where clients can feel safe to navigate obstacles and to overcome difficulties to facilitate healing, growth and change to not only live, but to live well.
