Our children youth face many challenges, and more now in this post-pandemic world. Understanding underlying stressors and past traumas is critical to addressing mental health that not only affects social-emotional well-being but also academic success. My upbringing, education, and experiences as a mother whose children range in age from 6 to 23 in addition to working with children and adolescents for twenty years in Public Education, as an elementary school teacher, and school counselor at the primary and secondary levels, has equipped me with the skills needed to help in the healing process. Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, I attended and earned from the University of Texas at the Rio Grande Valley, a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialization in Bilingual Education and a Masters in Guidance and Counseling. As a Licensed Professional, I am passionate about helping our children and youth overcome the issues they may be struggling with and exhibited through either (or a combination of) anger, self-harm, anxiety, depression, grief, and interpersonal conflict. Each client's experiences and thought processes are unique, therefore I use an integrative approach to therapy in my work with clients. This "multimodal" approach, in which behavior, affect, sensation, images, cognition, interpersonal relationships, and biological processes are considered for treatment is, in my experience, the most effective. In addition, I hope to create for my clients, a safe and non-judgmental environment suitable for exploration, growth, and healing.
