As someone who is both non-binary and gay, I understand the unique pressures fellow individuals who face challenges in many aspects of their lives. Whether it is coming to terms with your newfound gender and/or sexual identity, coming out, or coping with dysphoria, I create a culture of comfort and empathy, where you are able to safely discuss your relationship with gender, sexuality, and relationships while being assured that you are validated and earnestly understood. In my previous social work practice, I focus on the intersection of identity and barriers to quality mental health care, medical care, employment, and more, which led to collaboration with at-risk LGBTQIA+ youth and adults, chronically ill individuals, and those healing from past traumas. My therapeutic style is integrative, where I utilize talk therapy to give clients an affirming environment to freely explore their thoughts and inner conflicts. Additionally, I utilize techniques such as “the empty chair” and other present-focused approaches to identify the stories we tell ourselves about the world around us and the part we play in it. I tend to pull from many theoretical orientations depending on what works best for my clients as we identify goals and begin intervention.
