Introduction

Hi! I’m Sarah Theimer, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional level 2 (CCTP-II) in Virginia. I provide individual therapy for anxiety and trauma, helping adults (18+) breakthrough the cycle of worry and trauma to live a more present and fulfilled life. To help you reach your goals, I use a two-fold approach by teaching you tools to help cope with everyday stressors and manage the intensity of emotions while exploring past experiences which have/are impacting the way you currently feel/behave. As a therapist, I strongly believe in exploring past hurts and experiences to help you better understand what led you to this point and assist in treating the root causes of the anxiety and trauma. I earned my master’s degree from Lynchburg College in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have eight years of experience in the mental health field and have worked in a variety of settings to include substance use clinics, inpatient mental health settings, and corrections facilities. I have training in and utilize evidence-based approaches to include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR). While I provide anxiety and trauma therapy for adults, I specialize in anxiety and trauma therapy for first responders and their spouses. As the wife of a first responder, I have learned the unique challenges that our first responders and their families encounter. I aim to bring my understanding of these challenges along with my professional knowledge and skills to help you breakthrough the barriers preventing you from reaching your full potential.
