I was initially drawn to the mental health field while working as a rock climbing guide, where the parallels between physical risk-taking and emotional resilience became strikingly clear. Making meaningful changes in life requires more than just learning new habits; it demands putting them into action. While conventional therapy aids in processing trauma, gaining insights, and developing coping mechanisms, it lacks the real-time support needed when facing old habits head-on. That's where having a trusted guide comes in. Someone who's there with you as you practice these new habits, someone who isn't your spouse, your child, or your boss. You need a guide. After completing my Masters in Mental Health Counseling alongside an advanced degree in Experiential Counseling, I embarked on a mission to help others navigate their own paths to wellness. My therapeutic approach is trifold: BODY: Some sessions may require an investigation into what is happening in the body by examining how the nervous system responds to the environment or how echoes of the past influence its present reactivity. I will approach the body gently, through somatic processing of trauma or by developing regulation techniques to build resilience. BRAIN: Other times, we may need to investigate what is going on in the brain by looking at maladaptive neuropathways and rewiring them for increased well-being. Approaching therapy from the perspective of the brain may also involve assessing for chemical imbalances or the status of mental hygiene, which are impacted by sleep, nutrition, stress, exercise, etc. MIND: Then, in some sessions, we may need to deep dive into the mind to address cognitive distortions, explore different perspectives, or rewrite narratives. Whether we approach counseling from the body, the brain, or the mind depends on your needs at the time and overall treatment goals. But it doesn't stop there. Together, we will take your therapy into practice, often in adventurous settings like rock climbing, translating those experiences into metaphors for life's journey. I believe in the possibility of change, even when it feels dauntingly out of reach. Whether you're battling addiction, chronic anxiety or depression, navigating loss or transitions, or simply feeling stuck in a rut, I'm here to guide you. Together, we'll open doors to new perspectives, embracing acceptance of what can't be changed while igniting motivation for what can. If you're ready to embark on a journey of transformation, I'm here to walk alongside you every step of the way.
