I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a north Alabama native. My role as a facilitator of change first begins by acknowledging and accepting my clients as they are, establishing a secure foundation upon which we can develop an understanding of where we’re going. I work with my clients to create a shared goal through an empathic understanding of each client’s experience. This is vital to assist each client in achieving the change they desire. I believe that each human seeks safety, often in a form of relational connection and therefore, that change is made through establishing supportive and healthy relationships. Communication and acceptance, as well as vulnerability and courage, are crucial to creating safety and repair in relationships. I strive to create this type of environment for my clients. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Alabama. I am also a graduate of Auburn University, procuring my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy. During my time at Auburn I worked on the nationally recognized Alabama Healthy Marriage and Relationship Education Initiative facilitating healthy relationship classes and workshops for couples and individuals. I also completed my master’s thesis project evaluating a Mindfulness Based Relationship Education Course Curriculum. Guided by Family Systems Theory, my approach integrates Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Experiential interventions, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) skills from an attachment-based, trauma-informed perspective. I use mindfulness-based therapy with clients as well. I am also a certified Facilitator of the globally recognized PREPARE/ENRICH relationship tool. I am certified to provide therapy through Technology Assisted Services, commonly referred to as Telehealth. Those who interact with me on a virtual platform often get to meet my dog, as she’s never far from my side! I have experience working with people from all walks of life including in community mental health setting, school-based and office-based, as well as in the home of the client. I welcome individuals, couples, and families, including children and adolescents. It is a significant privilege to work with those who make the brave choice to step into therapy in pursuit of healing.
