It is stressful to sit down with a stranger and work on solving your biggest problems, but a relaxed and non-hurried atmosphere helps. I'm a warm, engaging and compassionate therapist. I absolutely love my work, as I've been privileged to support so many people in their efforts to feel good again. I believe strongly in the resiliency of the human spirit; however, it is important that my clients take away real tools to manage life's stressors. I'm a certified Perinatal Mental Health professional, experienced in infertility, pregnancy and infant loss and postpartum adjustment and mood disorders. I'm also a Level 1 Crossfit trainer and coach, understanding the complex relationship between physical, social, mental and emotional components of wellness. However, I also work with women and men experiencing a variety of problems including depression, anxiety, and life changes. I am an LGBTQ ally, support racial and social justice, and have extensive experience working with the LEO and emergency services personnel. I am equally comfortable with strong faith beliefs and those with none at all - we work from your values and perspectives, not mine. Many former clients have appreciated this approach by referring others to me based on their positive experience. I'm trained in the Brainspotting treatment method, a powerful and efficient therapy that helps improve symptoms of trauma and/or other neurophysiological challenges. Cognitive-behavioral and interpersonal therapy are the starting points of my work but Brainspotting has proven that it can accelerate healing and produce positive results beyond conventional talk therapy. Not all of my clients choose to use it, but it can even be useful for enhancing strengths that you may have, such as artistic or athletic capacity. You can find more information at: https://brainspotting.com/ As a resident of McHenry County for over twenty years, I enjoy good relationships with many area OB/GYN physicians, psychiatrists, family practitioners and schools who frequently refer their patients/students to me. I have also served as a field instructor for graduate students from Loyola University Chicago and other area universities, but I believe we are all life-long learners.
