Hello! I’m Sara Fry, a New York Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the State of California. My therapeutic orientation encompasses cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness practice, psychodynamic techniques, somatic experiencing, positive psychology, acceptance committment thearpy, insight oriented therapy, with person-centered influences to create a collaborative theraputic alliance. My approach is integrative and holistic, adapting to fit each person’s unique needs. I specialize in helping individuals with mood and anxiety disorders, life transitions, sexuality, interpersonal relationships, trauma, eating disorder, obsessive compulsive disorders and substance-related disorders. Through emotion-focused and person-centered therapy, I nurture individuals to be fully present, find life balance, strengthen emotional health, and develop effective coping skills, while connecting to their most authentic self. Recognizing the light in each individual I assist my clients to overcome barriers and build resilience for a healthy body and mind. I received my Master’s Degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University in 2008. I studied abroad focusing on HIV/AIDS prevention and clinical treatment in London, England. Postgraduate, I published scholarly articles in The Wiley-Blackwell Encyclopedia of Gender and Sexuality Studies as well as the American Psychological Association. I hold a certification in Advanced Clinical Practice from the NYU Silver School of Social Work. I’m also an adjunct instructor at Fordham University.
