Introduction

I’m Sara Alexander, a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas with a passion for unveiling hope and ditching shame through mental health. I earned my undergraduate degree in psychology from Franciscan University in Steubenville Ohio. Journeying as fast as I could back to the warmer climate of Texas, I immediately pursued a Master of Arts in Christian Counseling from Houston Baptist University. I’ve spent my counseling career serving the needs of my community, starting as a private school counselor in the 5th ward of Houston, then transitioning to an amazing Catholic nonprofit organization, Gratia Plena. My commitment to mental health has now extended beyond my individual passions and into my vocation with my husband who serves as the Co-Founder and CEO of Anchor Well Mental Health Services. We are thrilled to bring a variety of mental health services to our community. I consider my therapeutic approach eclectic, incorporating many empirically supported schools of thought into my therapeutic relationships. I believe in offering flexibility and balance to an individual’s needs and allow my clients to guide my intuition in how to best support their personal healing journey. My specializations include women’s health, focusing on prenatal and postpartum mental health care, as well as supporting parents in the endless transitions and challenges that children experience and grow through. I desire to help all parents implement strategies to foster peace in their homes and support intense children learn to become exactly who God created them to be, themselves! Services I offer include individual therapy for adolescents and adults, marriage/couples therapy, family therapy, parent coaching and advocacy support, educational in-service hours (CPEs), and public speaking engagements. On a personal note, my husband and I have 6 children and thought life wasn’t crazy enough, so we added a standard poodle, service dog-in training. In my fleeting free time, I’m a certified dog trainer, house plant aficionado, and enjoy creating highly customized rosaries. I look forward to meeting you and would be honored to walk with you as you discover healing and wholeness!
