I work with adults of all ages in both individual and group therapy. I enjoy working with life transitions, grief and loss, family of origin concerns, relational/interpersonal issues, trauma, sex and body concerns, and anxiety. I also have a special interest in pregnancy and peripartum concerns, infertility struggles, traumatic birth, and experiences of miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion, and infant loss as well as working with parents coping with children’s difficult medical diagnoses. I approach therapy from an attachment-based psychodynamic perspective which gives consideration to both your past and present. I also use some elements of cognitive behavioral therapy. Additionally, I am trained in Somatic- and Attachment-Focused Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy which is an integrative psychotherapy approach to address trauma among other concerns. I provide clinical supervision for social workers pursuing licensure as well as consultation for other professionals interested in supervision around my areas of specialty. I hold a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Auburn University. I completed training in maternal mental health through Postpartum Support International and am a former birth doula, trained and certified through DONA International. As a faculty member of the College of Traditional Midwifery since 2018, I currently teach courses on grief and loss, trauma, and peripartum mood concerns. I have spent more than 13 years participating in a Modern Analytic Training Group for group therapy and am also involved in my own weekly individual and group therapy as a client. I am a member of the Nashville Psychotherapy Institute (NPI), the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA), the National Association of Social Workers (NASW,) and I am a current and founding board member of the Nashville Group Psychotherapy Society (NGPS.) In my free time, I enjoy hosting family and friends, being outside, planning travel, and spending time with my spouse and two teenagers.
