Introduction

Rui is a licensed marriage and family therapist who specializes in the treatment of trauma, PTSD, Complex PTSD, dissociative disorders, and developmental and attachment trauma in teens and adults. Rui holds certifications both in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment, she is also trained in Attachment-Focused Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and Relational Life Therapy for couples. Rui's approach is holistic (mind-body-spirit), relational, non-violent, mindfulness-based, attachment-based, and Interpersonal Neurobiology based. Rui was born and raised in Beijing, China. With her Eastern background, she is personally and professionally connected to mindfulness-based practice and Buddhist philosophies. Growing up, Rui has seen her own family and the society in China suffering from different forms of trauma including generational trauma. Rui is a mother to a 28-weeker preemie baby who has special needs, so she understands the emotional up-and-downs of being a parent. She utilized her professional knowledge and applied trauma-informed care to her baby while she was undergoing multiple surgeries. But the key mental element that really got her through was the practice of staying present.
