Introduction

Roxane is a Registered Associate Clinical Social Worker supervised by Dr. Thomas Lucking, LMFT and by Dr. Adina Ascher, LCSW. Roxane holds graduate degrees in higher and postsecondary education from Columbia University Teachers College and in social work from the University of Southern California (USC), where she studied in the adult mental health and wellness program. With a primary focus on adults and couples/relationships, Roxane specializes in sex, sexuality, and gender-affirming therapies. She is trained as a Certified Sex Therapy Informed Professional (CSTIP) and also has studied specific modalities and supports for the LGBTQIA+ community. Roxane works with a diverse array of clients, many of whom are exploring dating, divorce, recovery from infidelity, intimacy issues, sexual dysfunction, polyamory/ethical nonmonogamy, open relationships, and BDSM/kink, and she offers treatment for many other relational, behavioral, and mental health challenges as well. Roxane also is a sleep expert trained in CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia) and enjoys working with those seeking to maximize their health through better rest. At her core, Roxane believes deeply in holding her clients in therapeutic space hallmarked by nonjudgment and unconditional positive regard. Roxane embraces a strengths-based, client-centered, and person-in-environment approach to treatment. More about her specialties, practice areas, and modalities are listed below. On a personal note, Roxane transitioned to a career in therapy after significant careers in both high tech and higher education alongside dedicated volunteerism in crisis counseling, medical care for the unhoused community, coaching youth basketball, and community arts. She originally hails from Appalachia and has experienced marriage, divorce, dating, parenting, launching children from the nest, life-threatening illness, loved ones’ addictions, and grief and loss, and she draws from her education and training as well as from her life experience to offer empathy and connection with her clients along their therapeutic journeys.
