Dr. Giovino earned his doctorate degree from the APA-accredited clinical psychology program at Nova Southeastern University. He earned his master’s degree in clinical psychology at the APA accredited clinical psychology program at Marywood University. He earned his bachelor’s degree with a minor in gerontology at Marywood University. His doctoral training was focused on the utilization of trauma informed therapy to treat the posttraumatic stress disorder and dissociative disorders. In addition. His training focused on utilizing CBT to treat anxiety, depression, behavioral problems, stress, anger, and trauma. He also was trained in the provision of play therapy for children and adolescents. Dr. Giovino has provided therapy and assessments in community mental health centers, college counseling centers (i.e., Trauma Resolution and Integration Center and Child and Adolescent Traumatic Stress Center), and a pediatric medical center. Dr. Giovino completed his pre-doctoral internship at Broward Sheriff’s Office in Florida, where he conducted psychological assessments, and individual and group therapy to individuals who were incarcerated within a mental health unit at a pre-trail correctional facility. Dr. Giovino completed his post-doctoral training at a private practice in Addison, Texas that specialized in specialized in child, adolescent, and family therapy. During his time as a post-doctoral intern, he conducted psychological assessments and provided individual, couples, family, and group therapy to children, adolescents, and adults presenting with various menta health concerns. Following his post-doctoral internship, he continued his work as a licensed psychologist within private practice and was the acting assessment supervisor as well as practicum/post-doctoral clinical supervisor. Dr. Giovino also continued his work conducting psycho-educational assessments as well as individual and family therapy for children, adolescents, and adults. Roger Giovino, Psy.D., is a Texas licensed psychologist who enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults. He uses a trauma-informed, strength based, collaborative approach. Dr. Giovino believes in creating a strong collaborative relationship with each client he works with and providing a warm, nonjudgmental, safe, and supportive environment. He utilizes evidence-based interventions such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help individuals become the best versions of themselves. However, he believes that it is important to meet each individual where they are at and tailor the intervention to suit the need of the individual. Dr. Giovino has experience working with a diverse range of concerns including (but not limited to) trauma, depression, anxiety, personality disorders (e.g., borderline personality disorder), dissociation, conduct problems, and behavioral difficulties.
