Introduction

I started my career as a health educator. In my training at what is now the University of Massachusetts Lowell, I learned that Health Education was not just avoiding disease or getting fit. The goal of Health Education is to be as healthy as possible: to be healthy mentally, physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. We need to be connected to all parts of ourselves and to our communities. I later became a psychologist because I was focused on mental health--and how our thoughts and relationships impact the way that we live out lives--and can get in the way of health and happiness. Sometimes we need help from others -- so we don't become trapped in automatic thoughts that keep us from changing and when our usual coping skills become overwhelmed by life's challenges. I am eclectic in my approach to therapy but am grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Family Systems. Basically, I focus on automatic thought patterns and the way relationships function. Over the last few years, I have returned to my roots as a health educator--and am once again concerned about how our mind, body, and interpersonal connections impact our health and happiness. At Connect Therapy & Wellness, I am excited to be able to draw upon my skills as a clinical psychologist and as a health educator. I am also certified to teach Trauma and Tension Releasing Exercises (TRE) and the Breathing Class. My patients have told me that I am approachable and they enjoy my sense of humor. When I work with someone, I use every day language. I look forward to meeting with you and helping you be healthier and happier.
