I am guided by the belief that we are all striving to find happiness in this life, and that we all have a right to be happy, peaceful, and fulfilled. Unfortunately, life can be truly challenging at times, and shame, self-criticism, and anxiety can make it hard to enjoy our lives. Our brains are remarkable in their ability to detect danger and react quickly, but they are not always the best at allowing us to feel relaxed and safe in our modern world. In my approach to counseling, I present clients with various tools to help cultivate a deeper sense of compassion for ourselves and for others. This will usually involve consciously creating a more complex, all-encompassing, and compassionate lens through which we can view our past struggles and our current challenges. Life will always be complex, but I believe that we can grow to embrace the good and bad aspects of our lives and to discover meaning, richness, and happiness as a result. Through conscious practice, we can retrain our minds to become our greatest allies and to experience a deep loving-kindness for ourselves and others. I look forward to hearing from you!
