While raising my five children, I worked diligently at Head Start and pursued an Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Development from American River College. Later, I furthered my education by earning a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Sacramento and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology focusing on Marriage and Family Therapy. Through my 20+ years of experience as a Site Supervisor at Head Start, I have come to appreciate the critical role that early intervention plays in shaping the future of children and their families. However, I have also noticed the detrimental effects of mental health services that fail to account for the unique needs of each individual, hindering personal growth and development.
