Greetings! I am a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of experience working with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, difficult life events and transitions, interpersonal and identity issues, grief and loss, and occupational performance. For many people, the idea of reaching out for help takes a lot of courage. It takes strength and trust to share personal thoughts, feelings, and behaviors with a new person. Clients have given me feedback that my style — authentic, honest, accepting, informal, and good-humored — helps to reduce the nervousness they feel when entering counseling, and builds the trust needed to open up in the therapeutic process. My collaborative approach means we work together to find paths toward healing using tailored strategies that work uniquely for your style. I have a warm, authentic approach, sharing straightforward observations and recommendations. While helping you find new ways to cope with stressors and shift behavioral patterns, I prioritize assisting you to find your strengths and purpose for life-long growth. I intentionally explore cultural and contextual factors that affect your life. I value using solid, research-based approaches, combining interpersonal and dynamic methods with cognitive behavioral approaches for more rapid change. I am practical and holistic in helping you move to be more satisfied. I have been a Senior Associate Director and Clinical Director at UNC Charlotte Counseling and Psychological Services, providing therapy, supervising professional staff and trainees, consulting with other professionals, and offering leadership experience on three national boards. If you are ready to talk with someone about your concerns, please feel free to contact me with your questions. It would be my honor to support you during what may be a challenging period in your life, and my hope is to help you create a more empowered and balanced life. I look forward to talking with you soon!
