Life can be messy–and by messy, I mean painful and joyous and everything in between. Counseling can provide a space where you feel seen, supported, heard and validated through the mess. I have worked with survivors of traumatic events and various losses. These experiences can result in feelings of shame, isolation and tremendous pain. For this reason, my practice centers on healing through connection and providing a space where clients feel validated and heard. My approach is grounded in person-centered therapy using a trauma informed approach. I believe you are the expert in your life and encourage you to take more of a lead in sessions, in the process, discovering your own solutions. I emphasize safety and empowerment throughout the counseling process and meet you where you are with warmth, compassion, non-judgment, and therapeutically appropriate humor. I consider myself a fellow traveler walking alongside you on your journey. I work with clients ages 18+ with a variety of concerns including trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions and other mental health experiences. I have 14-years of experience working in a college setting and also enjoy working with young adults experiencing life transitions. I have been on the other side of trauma and hold a special place in working with clients who have had difficult life experiences. I am trained in EMDR and utilize various therapeutic modalities including CBT, DBT, ACT, CPT, prolonged exposure, and motivational interviewing. In my free time I recharge by going to the gym, watching The Office reruns, traveling, hanging out with family and friends and volunteering my time at a local chihuahua rescue!
