My approach in therapy is active, collaborative and conversational. I work hard to create a space where clients feel comfortable and understood. When clients feel safe and connected to their therapist, they are better able to explore difficult thoughts, feelings, and experiences and they are more likely to make meaningful, lasting changes in their lives. In the process of therapy, I aim to balance understanding with change. This involves helping clients answer questions such as: How did this problem develop? Why am I feeling this way? What’s getting in my way of doing something different? What strategies can I use to address the problem? How do I implement those strategies? By exploring these questions, I help clients make connections between past experiences and present struggles. We identify patterns in thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and how those patterns impact functioning and well-being. I then help clients use their new understandings to develop more adaptive skills and the strategies needed to feel better and make the changes they desire. I have nearly 20 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families successfully work through a wide variety of issues. I have evening and daytime office hours and I am an in-network provider with BCBS PPO.
